Most of the time when I go Penang was just to take my flight back to Singapore but this time round, I managed to stay a night in Penang. Among all choices , the girls and I decided on Chulia Hertitage Hotel.
Honestly it was a love at first sight thing. The white heritage building, white interior , white everything and not forgetting the attractive room rates.
Located near the Komtar, there are also many choices of accommodation around.
One of the taxi driver who sent us back to the hotel told us that the building used to be a brothel but was damaged in a fire. Then the owner of Chualia Heritage Hotel brought over not long ago and reconstruct it. Not sure how correct is the source, do correct me if wrong.
Open not more than five years, the hotel have been voted to be one of the recommended accommodation in Penang. Now too from the girls and I.
A two storey building with a limited number of rooms. We booked 2 standard rooms at RM 130 each. & we've gotten a free upgrade ! YAYYY.
We chose the rooms at the first level because only the first level have toilets in each room. Level two rooms uses common shared toilet. Prices varies of course.
Glimpse of level 2 walkway.
No shoes allowed at the second level !
My experience with the hotel was a pleasant one so much that I would love to stay there for my future visits. Friendly and helpful hotel staff. Clean rooms and walkways, including the sharing bathrooms.
What I liked best about the hotel is the white interior. Everything in white wtf.
It gives me a calm , clean and simple feel which to me was sufficient enough for a comfortable rest.
The location was also 10-15 mins walk to the Komtar bus terminal and easy to move around the tourist attractions.
Bad point about the place is that it is not noticable from the main road but behind a row of shophouses. Missed it when we first went there. Okay not really a bad point because it is quiet and safe probably due to the same reason.
Free upgrade of room so this is what Regina & Shermane had.
Basic Triple Room.
Basic Queen Room
Thanks for the great hospitality and now,off to the streets.
Loves,
A.
