Hunger Games : Catching Fire

EVERY REVOLUTION BEGINS WITH A SPARK.

Thank you cathay for the movie treat! We caught the Hunger games : catching fire on its premiere preview and personally felt that it was good. Brought Fenny along for the movie , together with the other CNOS bloggers.

The storyline reflects a lot about life, especially how all of us are trying to survive in the society.
The rich and the poor, the fear in people and how every one of us are controlled by our government, all over the world.

Watch the trailer first!

The movie setting remains the same as the first sequel, adding on more high technology effects and as the sound effects fits in. I still prefer the soundtracks of the first sequel though!

In the second sequel of hunger games, the movie put much focus on the introduction where they explain the lifes of the Victors after the games and how they live in pressure. The story then continue to show the changes of events and then to the games. Unlike the first sequel, very little time was on the arena. In fact, the game was stopped half way. There was a twist of events which was stopped halfway and to be continued in the next movie sequel. When I saw the ending, I went like ARGH WHY. to OKAY WHEN IT THE NEXT PART COMING OUT!

In conclusion, the movie has succeed to make me look forward to the next sequel and I guess higher expectations too. For now, I shall just read the sequel to quench my curiosity.

Ratings: 4/5

P/S: I would also want to thank Jourdian for being stuck in camp so that I get his tickets and also MINDEF for putting Jourdian in camp. (if you are reading this, see you soon soldier!)

Halloween Horror Nights, Universal Studios Singapore!

Tricks or Treats?!
It's the time of the year where it's Halloween again !

These few years, there are more and more Halloween events ongoing in Singapore during the Halloween "season", and I'm glad that I had already went for the Halloween Horror Night at USS, courtesy of Cineleisure !

Thank you Cineleisure X Universal Studios Singapore, I went to experience the night together with my #cnos2 peeps last Saturday! I was a little upset when I got to know that we are not allowed to dress up. :(
I wanted to wear like my lolita.....

Brought Adeline along for the event !

This year's Halloween Horror Night has 3 scare zones and 3 haunted houses.
It is easy to locate them because each scare zone is put next to a haunt house.

No photography/ videography are allowed in the haunted houses.
Well me being me , bo bian just take pictures with the scare crew from the scare zones lor!
Really wanted to show you all what's inside the houses.

Attack of the Vampires

Which is located at the Main Street, aside with it is the Haunted House : Adrift

Some random strangers tagged along with our group and they made a whole lot of noise, I wasn't scared anymore.
Because I really cannot recognize which is the scare crew. MEH.
p/s : Becareful when you are walking.

Convention of Curses

Location : the Egyptian place.

 Lucid dreaming booth
This woman ask me if she can feed me to her plant.
HEY! I'M QUITE A POPULAR APPLEPIE OK.
HOW CAN ANYHOW FEED ME TO A PLANT.

Haunted house : Songs of Death

It was okay... but I got really dizzy after that.

Moving on to the next scare zone :

Forbidden Forest

Didn't manage to take pictures here with the scare crew , they were moving around too fast !
Also location of House of 13. , where the scare crew sprayed water at me. IN MY FACE.
Actually I like this one best as well. The way the scare crew were hidden was really creative and some parts of the walk was interesting.

Pictures with my CNOS 2 peeps !

It was only like 11 after we were done with all the halloween specials, took the opportunity to try out the transformer ride! #suaku

Oh oh ! Don't forget to catch the Monster Rock before you leave the park.
p/s : Remember to take the Halloween special's handout where you can find useful information about the locations and the show timings.
We caught the 12am show and left the park afterwards.
Indeed it was a great way to end the day!

Tips to share!

Be there before 7 pm- there's an opening show which we missed. :(
Travel light - it is really narrow in the haunted houses and you really want want your bags to be a burden to you.
Buy express pass or not - well regarding this, I might not be able to give you the right answer. Yes indeed it saved a lot of time and you can go play the rides after that but you would kinda feel the thrill of queuing for the haunted houses.  You know, the feeling of anticipation.
Drink plenty of water - Really, make sure you visit the toilets before you go for the houses. Just in case you pee in the pants.
Wear dryfit / less if possible - it is super humid and there are quite a lot of holy water around so this might help to keep you dry fast. #justsaying.
Book a room - Only if you have enough budget. The park closes at 1am and trust me you really would want to leave USS before 1 AM. Problem is getting back home, cabbing is expensive, driving and parking IS expensive too. Suggestion is to go with a group of friends and book a room in the hotel in RWS. Continue partying after the park close! #okaybadinfluence
Waterproof makeup - Wear waterproof makeup if not you might confuse the crew.

Opening hours of the Halloween Horror Nights is from 7pm to 1am on the following dates :
19,20, 25,26, 31 Oct 2013
1 to 3 Nov 2013.

Tickets are sold at $68 each and are available from
- their official site
- Cathay Cineleisure
- Nanyang Polytechnic.

PSSTT If you want a feel of what's inside the haunted houses , drop by Cathay Cineleisure Basement one to get a feeeeeeeeeeeel of it from THURSDAYS TO SUNDAYS.

Boo !

Sponsored Review : Eighteen Chefs @ Orchard

Dined at Eighteen Chef over one of the weekend mornings (same day which the Cineleisure slashing incident happened).
Courtesy of my CNOS 2 friends (esp Don) & Eighteen Chef + Cathay Cineleisure !

Eighteen Chefs was founded in 2007 and started off as a social enterprise which employs delinquents, drug offenders. Owner of Eighteen Chefs, Chef Benny was the first Singaporean to be trained at Jamie Oliver's restuarant, Fifteen. He himself was a former drug addict.

64 Degrees Egg
Try it with a straw, it is the way to eat it there.

French Loaf with Roasted Garlic Confit ($4.80)

The legendary HEART ATTACK FRIED RICE for two.
1 pax- $15.80 // 2 pax - $28.80
Half eaten beef biten by Angela.

After which, we had two pasta dishes which Don, Joey & Shenny attempts to cook for us too !

Seafood Aglio Olio
Tom yum Seafood Pasta

Super spicy omg. Together with fresh seafood and super tom yum food, I must say I quite like this but it is really too spicy I nearly burst. Perfect for those who eats chili padi like rice.

Never is a meal completed without desserts.

Black Beauty
For the Brownie lovers , top with Vanilla & Chocolate ice cream.
I like !
Raspberries & Vanilla Ice cream
Raspberries sauce, vanilla ice cream and waffles.

Just chocolate in a jar
Literally just chocolate ice cream , happy sprinkles and almond flakes in a jar.

Pictures time !
This is Angela & I arguing that we are the best wife-material kind.
Truth is we ain't really sure if we can walk out of the kitchen alive. hahaha

Joey, Shenny & Don 's special task!
A cooking session x a treat for us !
Here's Don and his materpiece!

What to expect and what not:

Each staff there is an ex-convict and most of them have full sleeve tattoos. Don't judge because their tattoos are pretty and they are nice although they look kinda fierce. I guess it is just how different people express themselves. Feel free to ask about the dishes with the Eighteen Chef crew.

Don't expect excellent atas service over there. Service is at its minimum in Eighteen Chefs, only food will be served. Everything else is a self-service. Want a cup of ice water? Go grab it yourself at the water dispenser.

How to order ?

1. Look at the order
2. Fill in the order chit.
3. Bring to cashier for payment.
4. Grab your utensils and sauces, & maybe a cuppa ice water
5. Wait for your food and enjoy!

My Say:

To be honest, the food over at Eighteen Chef is average (for me , a non beef eater) and not really my kind of food. I was still quite hungry after the food tasting actually. However, I would go back and support for it's big portion and its social enterprise spirit - to give ex-convicts a healthy environment to get accepted by the realistic society.I went back another day to try out their overly raved cheese baked rice and at $6.40 nett (student price) I had a drink, a main and a scoop of chocolate ice cream. Not to also mention that my friends and I could not finish our portion. It was rather different from the private food tasting I had. The restaurant played loud rock music and it was packed with teenagers. If you are looking for affordable food and dine with good cause, this is the best place I can find in Orchard area.

#Cnos2 : Cathay Decoded Race

Challenge 4 : The Cathay Decoded Race
At the Grand Cathay.

Prior to this event, I did research a little on the Grand Cathay and found some interesting facts.
Anyway it was a great experience with the other participants and learnt more of the Cathay.
#retailstudent.

I was a little awkward with the Grand Cathay at first , because it was one of the rare malls that I'm not familiar with. Surprisingly not covered in school also. Well, no fear cause I learnt so much during the challenges !

In this challenge, we need to be in groups of three, and my group #teampuck consists of Don , Ziwei and I !
Ready for briefing?

There are 6 stations in total.
Our fifth station over at the Cineleisure.
What we need to do was to find the 10 hidden QR code , scan , answer the question and complete the crossword puzzle.
In the MRT to move from place to place.

Finally we completed the six station and back to grand cathay for some refreshments !

And time for prize presentation !
The 1st prize winner completed the race in 28 mins and the 3rd winner complete in 34 mins.
wtf seriously , cause my team was stuck in a station for 20mins.
Nonetheless, CONGRATS !!!

Picture of Huixin and Natalie epic trying to be unglam but epic fail.
With pretty Shenny and Pamela !
