Sponsored : Best of Hawker Delights

TGIF all & it's time for Yum yum for the tum tum!

Get your salmon sashimi fix with Feast @ East Restaurant, Grand Mercure Roxy Hotel, this time with the local fare delights.  In conjunction with Singapore's 49th birthday, Feast @ East Restaurant offers a selection of local cuisine till 31st August.

The restaurant have five menu to rotate around and here is some of the favourites or dishes that left a stronger impression. It is my second time for its buffet so I try not to talk about the same things that I had already mention in the previous blog post for the restaurant. Read my previous entry HERE!

p/s : Pardon me for the not-so-good pictures, I'm trying my best already!

Black pepper crayfish & some chicken in thai sauce.

Dishes like  Herbal boiled prawns, Braised pork trottles, broccoli with baby abalone were also in the menu. What else do you want ? ermmm. Kong Poh frog leg?  steamed promfret fish ? ALSO HAVE. And I personally find it nostalgic, those were the dishes that we had during wedding dinners when we were young, isn't it.

There's how the action station looks like !
It still serves the signature laksa, but what is different from my previous trip was the the other dishes were replaced by mee siam, beef noodles and roti prata !
There were also tu tu kueh station where you can choose either coconut or peanut fillings. It was my first time trying a tu-tu kueh. Yum!

Moving on to the desserts station!

Not sure if it is because the dessert station were really near to the entrance or what. I was drawn to the station when I entered the place and that day I was like,
"TODAY I WILL EAT THE DURIAN CAKE"

Angie recommends : A slice of the durian cake and a scoop of durian pengat. #bagus

Not just the westernised cakes we see in all the hipster cafes and ridiculous expensive restaurants, look what is on the dessert trays - traditional kuehs and what? PANDAN CAKE.

After all my dessert crave was 90% full, Gin & I found coconut ice cream!
So I was telling her we could have a feel of Chatuchak Market in Bangkok, cheap stake me took a scoop and added corn and grassjelly from the dessert station(for the ice kacang) and peanuts from the rojak station! Gin had atap seeds and durian pengat in her bowl. #bagusno.2

Totally the right way to end the dinner.

Sponsored : Enjoy Penang Food with Feast @ East Restaurant, Grand Mercure Roxy Hotel

Hello to the weekends ( since it's Friday already) and if you are fretting over the weekend's dinner, here's one good choice for you to reconsider. Thank you Grand Mercure Roxy Hotel for having me for a dinner treat last Monday and share with me about the great deal. Just in time to satisfy my misses for Georgetown, Penang.

Vivian, me, Fenny, Joyce & Gin

The restaurant is within the Grand Mercury Hotel's premises, where the hotel sits directly opposite Parkway Parade Shopping Mall. It serves dishes locally and some from the neighboring countries. I'm sure this place would win the hearts of our senior friends and family members with its nostalgic decor and food.
The buffet restaurant has five stations in total, not that wide range of food you find in those international buffet places but good enough to bring back some good old memories from my childhood. I had a great time during the dinner as I make my own Ice Kacang and mixed my own rojak (so happy they have  green mango and guava). Vivian even managed to make brownie with ice cream for her desert. #enjoysia

3 picks from the Hot Selection

Left to Right : Steamed Beancurd with Oyster Sauce, Chili Crab, Baked Chicken with Trio Sauce
My favourite prawns and mussels, and Fenny's Salmon.
( Now you know where you can whack all the salmon sashimi, don't tell anyone)

 Action Station

Penang Kway Teow, Laksa, Assam Laksa, Prawn Noodle.

My mum cooks assam laksa at home as and when she likes, so I am really picky about the ones in Singapore. I would say, the assam laksa here is the best in Singapore. My second favourite among the four would be the Kway Teow. My materal family resides in Malaysia , two hours ride away from Penang so you can say I eat alot of Penang food while growing up.

 Gado Gado!

Happiness is when I had to eat gado gado with my friends and talk about life.
Here's the ingredients I've chose for my Gado Gado, of course there are other ingredients like the egg that I do not take.

& Here I have my first serving!

psst.. they have really tasty Yam Rice (from the Hot Selection)

Desert Station

The desert station nearly blew my mind, look at that rainbow kueh(s)!!!
* flash back memories of my grandma bringing me to the market to buy the kuehs for breakfast *
(Favourite of all)

I felt that it was really special as I never seen penarakan kuehs on buffet tables before, and they are really yummy!

That's just Part 1.

Moving on we have the ever thick yummy Durian Paste that will taste heavenly with puffs. By the time we wanted to have deserts, the durian cake was gone.G O N E. It must be good huh.

Not just that, I got to play with the ice shaving machine to make my ice kacang with all the ingredients I like. I had so much fun, I took a video via instagram.

Durian Cake, Durian Paste, Fresh fruits, sweet corn, Ice Kacang on the desert station.

Tell me, when was the last time you see rambutans ?

Sponsored Review : Seafood Fiesta at PARKROYAL 's Plaza Brasserie

Plaza Brasserie popular Soft shell crab

Thanks to HP, I had an extended invitation to try out Plaza Brasserie's buffet spread.
Crab lovers, you cannot miss out this place.
Here's what I have to share.

 Durian Prata
The other bloggers was raving about the roti prata before we could start out meal and my first impression was. SIAO AH COME BUFFET PLACE EAT PRATA.  And the next thing I knew, I had two of them. The durian prata was SO Good, I can't stop thinking of it. The durian paste was just nice in my opinion and just in portion with the prata. Not very oily as well.
Shrimp on toast.

I like it and I think there's another nothing really special about this. Shrimp spread on toast, fry. There's just this magical texture about this that I could not explain. Bad description I know.

Crab Cake.
THIS, IS RIDICULOUSLY NICE. It tastes like compressed crab meat forced into a cube.
Closest description . Freshness of crab remains, no signs of the "sea" taste.

Salted Egg Crab .
Too good. It was so good we could not stop and I would have to steal KFC's tagline- It's finger lickin' good. #promise.

The above are my personal favourite from the buffet. The following that I am sharing are yummy too, just that they are not on my top list.

That is not just what the buffet has.

From the buffet bar.

Assorted maki and sashimi from the Japanese food station

You got to try their roast meat too.

Wide variety from the dessert bar. My pictures just don't do justice.
I like the chocolate mousse best from the desserts bar followed by the chocolate cake.

Plaza Brasserie also have a wide variety for ice cream toppings.
Ice cream flavours rotates and we had rum and raisin, chocolate and peppermint on the day we went.

M&M Toppings, you heard me.

On the plate : Fried rice with crab meat, Crab cake, Baked Salmon , Salmon salad , Squid , shrimp on toast.
